ALSAGER pensioners have been dealt a winning hand by Britannia Building Society's community fund.
The pensioners meet every Thursday at the Village Institute, but were struggling to raise the £42 needed to buy 20 new packs of cards to play Military Whist.
Britannia came to the rescue after being approached by society member John Newton, who organises the pensioners group.
"We are always looking for new ways to help our members and the local community which has supported us so loyally for many years," said society spokesman Jacqui Holmes.
"We were delighted to be able to help Mr Newton and the whist group, which we hope has many years of enjoyment from the new cards."
