CREWE'S Emmie Dixon Home is on the right track to raise vital funds thanks to the staff of Freightliner.
The residential home for adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities urgently needs improvement work costing £2,500.
And now it's well on the way to that figure after receiving a cheque for more than £750 from the Basford Hall rail freight centre.
A raffle and a sale of goods from an old, unclaimed container made £623 with a further £130 donated from rail enthusiasts who contributed while on a tour of Freightliner's facility.
Residents of the home on Richmond Road will benefit from a refitted bathroom if fund-raising reaches that final total.
"The Emmie Dixon Home is a cause close to the heart of staff at Freightliner who recognise the importance of a safe, pleasant and caring environment for the most vulnerable members of our society," said freight services manager, Alan Tebay.
"The response has been fantastic but we will continue until the total of £2,500 has been reached."
