A THELWALL woman who is soon to be a grandmother is set to gallop across the Holy Land in a 5-day challenge.

Theresa Warburton, who is 42, of Selworthy Drive, will be taking part in the gruelling horse riding event which will take 40 people to the sea of Galilee via various kibbutz sites.

She will be passing along the hills of Nazareth, will ride through some of the Crusader battlefields and past the tomb of Jethro.

She is a member of the Treborth Riding for Disabled Association and has chosen Camsley Riding for the Disabled Centre as the recipient of the money she raises with the trip.

Theresa said: "It helps the disabled to develop co-ordination. On the ground disabled people can appear clumsy but on a horse they seem to come alive."

She has to raise £2,000 to go on the trip from October 13 to 21 and has already raised £350, but is looking for local companies to sponsor her.

Theresa had to go through a selection process to take part in the trip which looked at issues such as how often the applicants went riding. Theresa rides her horse Whiskey for eight or nine hours a week and has been riding horses since she was six. But Whiskey won't be going on the long trip instead she will be riding quarter horses with American style saddles.
