WARRINGTON residents are being urged to join a national campaign to clean up the country's grot-spots.
The Just Bin It initiative is organised by the Tidy Britain Group and replaces the well-known National Spring Clean title.
The change of name aims to persuade people not to drop litter in the first place, as well as encouraging clean-ups.
The campaign runs from April 1 to April 30, but the coming months will see a host of studies and surveys to find out who drops litter and why, how much rubbish is being dumped, and where and when people drop litter.
A spokesman for the Tidy Britain Group said: "The real culprit is of course the litter louts.
"It is they who actually drop the rubbish that costs £340 million each year to clean up. It is they who cause the deterioration of our local environments, drop the food that creates a feast for rats and other vermin and help create the rubbish that start a third of fires.
"The aim of Just Bin It is to turn today's litterer into tomorrow's environmentally responsible citizen."
Clean-up kits are available to help you to clean up your local grot-spots. Log on to www.tidybritain.org.uk or call 0800 783 7838 to register.
