STATE-OF-THE-ART ebony and ivory is helping to keep the Warrington male voice choir in perfect harmony.

The choir is utilising a high-tech keyboard donated by BNFL that can be programmed to sound just like an entire orchestra. The new instrument will provide the backing at the group's concerts in Warrington and on tours around Britain and Europe.

The choir's organist Tony Whittaker said: "The keyboard has made a world of difference to what we can deliver. We've already used it for two local events with great success. Performing at different venues in the past meant that the quality of the backing varied. Now we're guaranteed quality sounds thanks to BNFL's support."

BNFL's head of community involvement Rob Jarvis said: "BNFL's support of the choir spans several years and recognises its contribution to the peace reconciliation initiative between Warrington and Ireland."

The choir now plans to take the keyboard on its trip to Berlin in May. Closer to home a concert has been lined up for March 24 at Warrington's Parr Hall.

Tickets can be booked on 574800.
