A GOLFING fan is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Hebden Green School and St Luke's Hospice after organising a charity golf tournament.
Geoff Sanderson, from the Prince's Feathers golf team has organised the Four Societies Charity Golf Competition at Vale Royal Abbey Golf club, where he is a member.
The event will take place between the Prince's Feathers, the Gate, the Red Lion and Vale Royal Abbey and the teams will be teeing off on Sunday, April 1.
Mr Sanderson said: "The original organiser was working away, so we thought it would be a good idea to resurrect the competition.
"I am hoping that if every team can reach their sponsorship targets we should be looking at at least £1,000 for each charity."
Geoff is also hoping for some celebrities to come along to the tournament to make it a great day.
He said: "I have approached Manchester United and many of their players are very avid golfers. I haven't as yet had a reply so we'll see what happens.
"I have spoken to both charities and they are thrilled that we are raising this money for them.
"Hebden Green have only just had a grant to extend their building so any extra money would be fantastic."
Anyone who would like to help with any donations or sponsorship can contact Geoff through the club on 01606 301291.
