WINSFORD Carnival organisers have hit out at the town council's negative attitude after it refused to give any funding towards the event.
For the time being, the council has only agreed to underwrite losses of £500 on the day.
The council made the same pledge last year, before eventually granting £500 to supplement this.
Members also refused to put any money towards programmes for carnival day.
Carnival secretary Karen Morris said: "I would like it to be said that I am disgusted in the council. It is a Winsford Carnival and we changed the name because of the fact it represents the whole town.
"We are doing this off our own backs to hold an event for Winsford to get everyone else's respect.
"We are trying to make a difference. We are not doing it for ourselves we are doing it for our children and if they don't want to help then it's a pretty poor show."
This is the latest problem in a growing history of animosity between the council and carnival organisers.
Recently, Winsford Town Mayor Jim Hughes was upset that he was not invited to the carnival queen selection evening.
Councillors were also angry they had not received a donation from the carnival to the town mayor's charity.
However, organisers are determined to push on with or without the council's support to make the carnival an event to remember.
Karen said: "We don't need them, Winsford Town Council are just making themselves look bad.
"We still have money left over from last year, it's not as if we have not got anything. It just means we will not be able to have something like the Crazy Bears' Show as we had last year."
This year's carnival on July 21 is a free event with no entrance fee to the field.
As many volunteers as possible are needed to help out on the day and to get involved with the carnival parade itself.
