Park Shocker
Manchester Indians 6 Winnington Park 2
WINNINGTON must have thought all three points would be theirs, playing bottom of the league Manchester - but it turned out to be a bit of a horror story.
With a much changed team, Manchester played nothing like a team that were rock bottom of the league.
Having drawn with league leaders Oxton last week, they set about Park with their unique style of play.
Playing on a new water based pitch which, because it had no water on it, created incredible bounce, this difficult surface was not to the liking of Park and they struggled to play through the game.
Park started slowly and soon went behind through a long through ball and first time shot. Even though Park had large amounts of possession they failed to break Manchester down and they went 2-0 down after another long ball was picked up by their very skilled forwards.
Park were quick to reply with a goal from David Leech who chipped the ball over the keeper.
With half time approaching and Park having their best spell they were easily robbed of possession and conceded a third.
Park conceded two early goals in the second half, and the game was all but over.
They got very frustrated which was being taken out on the opposition and it all got too much of Mark Leigh who was sent to the Sin Bin.
James Porter's gutsy performance earned him a late solo goal. But Manchester had the final say by adding a sixth.
