A SHORT ice breaking session was required last weekend at Heesom's Pool before Barnton and Frodsham Angling Club could start their penultimate match of the 2000-2001 season.
Peg 41 produced the goods for Mal Lightfoot, who took top spot on the day.
As his name suggests Mal did tread lightly, presenting pinkie with pole at 10 metres and feeding squatt throughout the match, after only putting in two walnut sized nuggets of ground bait at the start.
His net, made up of ide and Perch, finally turned the scales to 2-0-9 for a good win.
Veteran angler George Scattergood scooped second spot from adjoining peg 40, his waggler and big white maggot approach at four metres fished up the water accounting for an all ide catch of 1-10-0 with samples to 5oz.
At Peg 48 Chris Parry wormed his way into third place with the pole presented wrigglers at eight metres taking several ide and perch for 1-5-11 from the gin clear water.
