Elworth U11...0
EGERTON travelled to Sandbach on Saturday with high hopes.
Straight from the start Egerton went for the win, Roberts and Simcock were looking lively up front supported by Bowcock, Callaghan and Poole in mid-field.
It came as no surprise when Simcock smashed a fine shot past the Elworth goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
Stennings, Stimpson, Thorpe and Edwards in the Egerton defence looked very comfortable snuffing out the few Elworth attacks.
In the second-half Egerton made a couple of substitutions and the balance changed.
Elworth grew in confidence and pushed forward.
Egerton kept hitting them on the break and a combination of poor refereeing and poor finishing kept the score at 1-0.
Elworth, and the crowd, thought they had scored with seven minutes from time when a shot seemed to be heading into the top of the Egerton goal, but up popped Edwards to head it off the line and with two minutes to go Hassal saved an Elworth point blank shot to give Egerton a well deserved win.
Man of the match Robert France.
