THE folklore behind a classic song is being called into question by a crew of film students at Warrington Collegiate.
Legend has it that Simon and Garfunkel's classic home-sick sing-along Homeward Bound was written as Paul Simon sat in Widnes train station awaiting his train.
But four film students are calling the credibility of the claim into question as part of their final year of a media and business degree with television production.
Vicky Greenwood, Kirsty Walker, Christopher Graney and Alison Ellul said: "The documentary is about Paul Simon and his tour of the north west circuit, Warrington, Chester, Birkenhead, Liverpool and Widnes, in 1965.
"It goes that Simon played the last date on his folk club circuit and went to Widnes station to wait for the early morning train to London. There he wrote what would become Homeward Bound.
"But research has found Paul Simon did not write it at the station. We will be investigating the origins of the song and looking for people who remember this tour or were part of the crowd seeing him play in pubs and clubs such as The Lion Hotel."
They also need a look-a-like for the documentary. Call 01925 494382 and leave your name and number.
