DRAMA queen Gloria Blair will be putting on a spectacular show at Thelwall Parish Hall this month to give her career as a musical director a special send-off.
Gloria, who is 66 and soon to become a granny, has worked with talented youngsters from Lymm, Grappenhall and Thelwall for the past 30 years, putting on an array of productions to delight drama fans far and wide.
Gloria, who lives on Prestbury Drive, has worked with Little and Large and Michael Barrymore in her time. She even taught Roy Castle to do hand-springs in return for some tap dancing tips and she can still do cartwheels herself!
Many of Gloria's pupils have moved on to become drama teachers themselves, including Eira Parry, a teacher at Woolston High School, of whom Gloria is very proud.
The increase in drama classes in schools has seen numbers dwindle in Gloria's classes, so she has decided to turn to variety performances instead.
But Gloria will always have fond memories of her days as a teacher. "It's always wonderful when you can get someone into acting," she said.
Gloria will carry on working with the small group of 15 members, putting together variety shows, and is always happy to hear from anyone who wants acting tips. To contact Gloria, call her on 265198.
Her last production will see the group, whose ages range from seven to 26, perform Pinocchio, with extracts from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, at Thelwall Parish Hall, on March 23 and 24, starting at 7.30pm. All proceeds will go to the special baby care unit at Warrington Hospital.
Tickets cost £4, or £3 concessions, and the price includes refreshments. Anyone who would like a ticket can call Stuart on 752862.
