THE people of Warrington have again made their feelings known over Arpley landfill, with thousands signing individual letters of objection to extension plans for the site.
Members of the Agenda 21 waste watchdog group went to Morrisons in Stockton Heath over three days last week, armed with objection letters against 3C Waste's two planning applications one for a massive extension to the site and another to increase its hours of use.
The group is aiming to recoup the effective loss of around 1,700 objections against the original hours-of-use extension plan, which has now been amended.
The changes were enough to form a whole new application, which dampened the strength of the original objections.
Shoppers were offered the chance to sign the letters and the response was overwhelming with more than 1,000 signatures collected over the three days.
