MAY I through this column seek some clarity into the guilt or innocence of Clr Mike Hughes.

Firstly it is clear that had the application for the Tetley site for a store and stadium not been called in for a public inquiry then the club (WRLFC) would have received a substantial cash injection thus avoiding the £200k of ratepayers' money contribution.

The only two reasons I see for it being called in are:

out of town development (marginal whether the site is in or out of town);

b) letter of objection by Clr Mike Hughes (or should I say underhanded letter of objection) because we must remember he did not take his rightful place at the planning committee, but then decided to write a letter behind everybody's back including the leader of Warrington Borough Council.

I do apologise I'm already protesting his guilt before the trial.

I have written to Mike Hughes personally and left a message on his regular answer machine, but he has chosen to ignore both.

My message on both occasions was to ask what exactly he wrote to John Prescott.

Now if Clr Mike Hughes is to be put on trial for his guilt or innocence in the Rugby League debate it is only fair that we should see all the evidence.

Can I therefore ask through the good work of the Guardian to see if you would print the full text of Clr Mike Hughes's letter in order that he is given a fair trial.

I believe you referred to receiving a copy in earlier articles of the Warrington Guardian.

I'm asking for this before all the electioneering that is shortly to be thrust into our face in May.

Let the people and indeed electorate decide on his guilt or innocence.
