THE GRANGE Primary School has opened its new computer suite after months of tireless fund-raising work from staff, pupils and parents.
The £26,000 facility features 16 computer workstations with printers and desks, all of which have access to the internet.
Headteacher Peter Kennerley said: "It is up and running a lot quicker than we thought and thankfully we have only had a few teething problems."
Some £12,000 of the funding comes from the Government from their NGFL grant, which all schools receive, but the rest is the result of the community around the school putting in a big effort.
The school has held non-uniform events, a swimathon, numerous bingo evenings and quizzes, an autumn fair and individual donations on top of this.
Mr Kennerley said: "We are very proud of our computer room which is thanks to everyone's efforts and the parents in particular.
"We have not raised it all quite yet so our fund-raising is still ongoing."
Intrepid teacher Lynn Davis is currently training for a sponsored parachute jump which should boost the funding even further.
But the school will be giving something back to the community by opening the suite for adult education classes in the near future.
Mr Kennerley added: "We are investigating the possibility of classes and we are hoping to work with Mid Cheshire College through the Government's National Opportunities Fund.
