AFTER years of caring for stray cats, four friends are hoping to turn their hobby into a charity.

Simone Vernon, Rachael Jones, Christine Dutton and Yvonne Holman have become well-known in Winsford as the 'cat-women'.

People regularly bring strays to the foursome who nurse the cats back to health before finding new homes or even adopting them.

Now they are planning to launch their own charity sanctuary under the name Purr For Help.

And they have plenty of experience under their belts, owning 27 cats between them.

"There are just so many strays around that we believe we can help - if we get the help," said Simone.

"There's a real need for this service in Winsford, but we need donations to get us started, towards bills, food and litter."

The feline-friendly foursome are planning to start a fund-raising programme and have enlisted all their friends to help - they even have someone who is prepared to do a bungee jump.

"We are all young mothers and have the time to do this, so we've decided to do it properly," said Simone.

"We now need all the financial help we can get to get going and register as a charity."
