WINNINGTON Park ladies 1sts were disappointed to lose 3-1 after a good start against an in-form Chester side on Saturday.
An excellent goal from Karen Thwaites gave Park an early lead, but their dominance should have brought more goals as Chester came back in the first half.
Their strengths were on the break and at set pieces and they scored two before half-time.
Winnington started the second half strongly but despite tightening up at the back, Chester added a clinching third from a short corner.
Park 2nds were embarrassed to lose 2-1 to a Poynton 3rd team which only fielded 10 players.
Winnington started well but failed to make the most of a series of chances, and were punished a minute before the break when a deflection off a defender's stick gave Poynton the lead.
In the second period Park looked increasingly disorganised and their concentration was affected when Vicky Cheshire and Hannah Stockton had to leave the field within five minutes of each other after picking up injuries.
Poynton's captain, who had looked menacing on the break throughout, exploited a lapse in concentration at the back to score her side's second goal.
However, Winnington managed to restore some credibility 10 minutes from the end when a cracking shot by Karen McGibbon took a deflection and flew into the top right hand corner of the net.
This Saturday, Park 1sts will be heading to West Yorkshire for a league game at York before staying over for a re-arranged visit to Driffield on Sunday.
The 2nds are at Congleton; 3rds at home to Bollington.
