EDDIE Bishop has been re-instated as Nigel Gleghorn's right hand man at Witton Albion.

It comes less than three months after his assistant managers's position was made redundant in the face of the playing budget being cut by a third.

Chairman Mike Worthington has confirmed a "re-adjustment" of the budget, but the move comes just two weeks after he told Witton fans he would cut the wage bill further if it meant Albion breaking even for this financial year.

But manager Nigel Gleghorn has been keen to point out this week that he is more than prepared to accept further cutbacks, and that any financial re-working is not at his request.

"I know the financial restrictions at the club and have never, ever put pressure on the chairman or the club for extra money," said Gleghorn.

"All I've ever done is my best to work with the budget, and last year I must have saved the club £5,000. I know the predicament it's in."

Concentrating, therefore, on matters on the field, the manager isn't totally giving up on chasing promotion despite two defeats in a week.

A 1-0 home loss to Harrogate last Tuesday was followed by a 2-1 reversal at Trafford on Saturday, results which leave Albion well adrift of the leading pack in UniBond Division One..

"We've made it very very difficult for ourselves as the last two results have been very poor," said Gleghorn.

"On Saturday we weren't the worst side on the pitch, but some refereeing and linesman decisions went against us. They could have had two players sent off and we had a penalty turned down, so that cost us.

"I'm not giving up, though. If we're not going to get promotion, I don't want to finish 12th or low down in the table, I want to be third.

Witton host Stocksbridge Park Steels this Saturday (3pm) before going to Belper Town on Tuesday 7.45pm), both in UniBond Division One.

The following Saturday, the away game with Ashton United has been brought forward to a 1pm kick-off.
