Grange won 3-0 on penalties
GRANGE produced the performance of the season to dump Junior Blues out of the Mid Cheshire Youth Cup at the semi-final stage.
They battled every inch of the way in this thrilling Winsford derby and were unlucky to be a goal down after 10 minutes when Gregory smashed in a shot from the edge of the box.
But Grange dug in and after 20 minutes they were level when Matty Andrews unleashed an unstoppable free-kick that flew past the stranded keeper.
Grange started the second half the better side and had several chances before they took the lead when Mark Griffiths swivelled and rammed home from 10 yards against his former club.
Just as Grange were heading for victory, in the second minute of stoppage time Ellis headed in to take the game into extra -time.
During this period chances were created, but the scores remained level, so the game went to penalties.
Danny Kerr stepped up to fire Grange one up. Ellis then put his wide before Craig Smith followed suit.
Danny Astles then made a wonder save from Came, but then the referee disallowed Matty Andrews' sweetly struck penalty with Grange claiming it had gone through a hole in the net.
But Astles guessed right again to deny Campbell before Shaun Greenaway tucked his away. Francis then blazed Blues' last penalty over the bar, and Grange booked their place in the final at Witton on April 29.
The Grange management team were full of praise for an outstanding achievement by their players, getting to the final in only their first season in the top division.
