As the Knutsford Guardian went to press last night, the 32nd Cheshire Spring Antiques Fair at Tatton Park was cancelled.
Organiser Robert Bailey said there was still hope the fair could be staged on March 22-25, but only if there were no fresh outbreaks.
"If there is a decline in cases before Wednesday there is a chance it could still go-ahead," he said.
Last week, a party to bid farewell to MP Martin Bell was scrapped just hours before 360 guests were due to descend on the Tenants' Hall at Tatton Park.
The effects of the foot-and-mouth crisis were this week beginning to bite in Knutsford town centre too.
K Bar in Princess Street was forced to raise the price of a steak meal by £1.50 to £6 and Knutsford Ornithological Society cancelled Saturday's field trip.
But others have been criticised for not taking more precautions.
Hunt saboteur Dawn Preston attacked the Cheshire Forest Hunt for staging its annual ball near Warrington on Saturday night.
"They seem to think they are exempt from such precautionary measures," she said.
But Alex Park, joint master of the hunt, said many farmers did not attend on Government advice.
"We took advice and it was clear there was no risk of spreading the disease," he said.
In Ollerton, farmers are believed to be angry that paintballers are still allowed to roam the woods in mock combat.
Allied Command, a company based near the Dun Cow pub, staged a battle on Sunday after all visitors had walked through disinfected straw.
"They are private woods and there are no cattle or livestock roaming around," said office manager Karen Hill.
