Rudheath U12...3
DESPITE losing this game Tatton matched Rudheath in almost every department on the pitch.
If there was one area that perhaps Tatton could be criticised for, it was lack of aggression.
Playing on a pitch that had a close resemblance to a ploughed field it was always going to be difficult for Tatton to play their normal fluent passing game.
And rather than persevere with this tactic they attempted to run with the ball, but could make no headway through a physical Rudheath mid-field.
Although Rudheath took an early first-half lead, Tatton battled strongly and always looked likely that they would get an equaliser particularly when the long ball was played over a rather flat Rudheath back four.
Indeed it was from one such move that Tatton created their best chance of the first-half.
A long ball from Douglas Shore over the top of the Rudheath defence allowed Nick Beeson to run on to the ball, however the Rudheath goalkeeper was on fine form and managed to block Beeson's shot.
Rudheath scored their second mid-way through the first-half when Tatton had a brief moment when their concentration wandered from the game and failed to clear their goalmouth effectively.
The second-half again saw the best move come from Tatton, when James Beggs played a perfectly weighted 30 yard pass through to Nick Beeson, however it wasn't to be Tatton's day as the final shot missed the far post by inches.
Tatton created a few other chances but the goalkeeper was never really tested.
Although Tatton defended bravely, in particular the central two defenders of Agan and Swinton, Rudheath sneaked a third goal two minutes from the end.
Man of the match for Tatton Douglas Shore.
