YET more plans to build homes in Lymm look set to be met with fury from residents, who say they are sick to the back teeth of developers cashing in on land in the village.

Redrow Homes has submitted plans to build 64 two-, two-and-a half- and three-storey homes and apartments on land near to the Farmers Arms pub, between Cederfield Road and Millers Lane.

And just a stone's throw away, on a site off Sandy Lane, developer Plane Tree Homes, based in Bowdon, has applied for full planning permission to build five three-bedroom homes and five two-bedroom flats.

The developer hopes to use number 57, the chip shop and the car park for the development.

The post office and shop will stay open, and a first-floor flat will be converted to a one-bedroom flat and a two-bedroom flat.

In the current climate of road blockades and rallies at the Town Hall, the proposals could not have come at a worse time.

Clr Sheila Woodyatt said: "I am extremely unhappy about three-storey houses on the Redrow Homes site because part of it is adjacent to bungalows.

"I am also concerned at the amount of properties they are trying to cram in. I do realise that there is less danger of the green fields going but it's a mixed blessing."

The site earmarked for 64 homes is not currently in use, but Clr Woodyatt is concerned about the overdevelopment of the smaller site at Sandy Lane.

"The site provides vital parking on Sandy Lane where there is little space to park. Again I am very concerned that they are craming too much in," she said.

Both planning applications are available for inspection at the planning office at New Town House.
