YOUNGSTERS in Warrington are in for a summer bonanza as the town's youth service prepares to take part in a Government pilot project.
Challenging adventure activities are on the cards as part of the £10 million project designed to bridge the gap between secondary schools and adult life.
A total of 47 pilot schemes will run throughout the country - building on last year's 32-strong small scale project - and Warrington is among them.
The town will share a Government grant jackpot of £100,000 with Cheshire Community and Youth Partnership.
Around 18 youngsters from Warrington will be able to take part in a summer camp-style project involving a training programme and a practice expedition and culminating in a outdoor activity week at the Conway Centre.
Schools Minister Jacqui Smith said: "I am immensely pleased with the response to the scheme from activity providers and youth workers.
"I am sure we can work together to provide a highly effective programme that will give participants a real chance to improve their prospects."
