STAR students from Warrington Collegiate Institute's hospitality, catering and leisure and tourism departments were rewarded for their efforts at the college's fifth annual awards evening.
Several of the students look set for a bright future after picking up prizes in their various fields.
One youngster singled out for particular praise was catering student Neil Horton. Neil picked up the the Millennium Shield, a new award recognising his outstanding contribution to the department throughout the past year.
John Kelly, programme leader, said: "In terms of personal commitment, his willingness to help others and his dedication and service to the department, Neil has excelled himself.
"This one-off award has quite rightly been presented to a unique individual."
Other notable award winners in hospitality and catering included Alexandra Flynn, who received the trophy for Foundation Student of the Year. Marie Rigby was named GNVQ Student of the Year as well as most improved chef.
There were also worthy winners in the leisure and health section. These included Kalynda Pritchard, who was named Student of the Year for the certificate in sports coaching.
Naseem Raza was named Student of the Year for the advanced GNVQ in tourism. Naseem has now gone on to take up an air steward's course at Trafford College.
