PRISON Chaplain Reverend Neil Shaw is going to be "doing time" next week as he gets "sent down" for charity.
He will be exchanging his dog collar for a prisoner's uniform as he spends two days as an inmate at Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institute.
The short excursion is in aid of the India Relief Fund and will see Rev Shaw mopping floors and performing other general chores normally done by inmates.
He said: "The Governor at Thorn Cross asked me to think of a way of raising money for the India Relief Fund which would capture the imagination of the inmates."
His 'sentence' begins on Monday, March 19 and will finish on Tuesday evening.
The fundraising effort is being supported by the inmates, who have agreed to put some of their weekly allowances towards the charity.
