fails to pay

dividends

for Crewe FC

CREWE FC'S frustration with bogey side Rylands continued after the visitors snatched a 1-1 draw at the Cumberland Sports Ground.

A dominant first half was capped off as Gareth Brooks turned home Donny Brown's wicked cross on 40 minutes to give Crewe an interval lead.

Chances arrived during the second-half as the home side continued to boss proceedings but Rylands snatched a share of the spoils through their first real chance of the match, ten minutes from time.

Despite the spoiler, manager Ian O'Reilly was still pleased with his side's performance.

"We dominated and worked hard for each other but we've got to make sure we concentrate for the full 90 minutes.

"The only real criticism is we've got to learn to play it on the floor a bit more rather than try to find the front two with long balls.

"Young Michael Owen again did really well at the back and looks a good find for us. Graham Taylor and Gareth Brooks were also outstanding."

Crewe FC travel to Bollington, this Saturday, while the reserves chase silverware for the club. They play in the semi-finals of the Crewe Cup against in-form Alsager Town, at the Cumberland Sports Ground, KO 2pm.
