Stockport...15
Lymm RFC...15
LYMM took the game to Stockport at every opportunity.
Stockport conceded a penalty and R. Hopkinson gratefully accepted.
Stockport set up a 30 metre rolling maul to score a try.
Fortunately for Lymm their reliable kicker had an off-day and missed the conversion and three kickable penalty attempts.
Stockport won a line-out and a slick piece of handling saw the stand off in under the posts. Lymm went into half-time 15-6 down.
In the second period Lymm constantly broke through but failing to add the killer punch.
J. Fergusson and M. Sutton combined well and came close to the elusive try when Stockport's defence held firm.
Rob Blackmore, on for the injured Millachip, produced the highlight of a gloomy afternoon when his sleight of hand put Kinsey on a blind side move and M. Bower, following up, failed to get his pass away and another move came to nothing.
It was the sure boot of Hopkinson that levelled the scores with three successful penalty kicks.
Sion Williams made a welcome return following his broken jaw injury and was influential in his lineout play.
Next Saturday when Lymm face top of the table West Park at Beechwood, kick-off 2.30pm.
