GRANGE women's soccer team put in a great display to defeat Preston 3-2.
It was a much better performance than the scoreline reflects.
The result continues a fine run of form showing only one defeat in the last nine games encompassing a straight fourth win, the best since manager Barry Higgins came back to the club.
Rachel Nolan scored a contender for goal of the season, chesting down a ball from a throw-in on the corner of the penalty area and in a brilliant turn volleyed the ball in the top corner.
The second goal came from a strong tackle by Beckie Davies to win the ball and deliver a through pass which put Nolan one-on-one with 'keeper and she again blasted the ball into the net.
Preston pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.
In the sixth minute of the second half Mel Jones bottled through the defence and put in a shot which the 'keeper only parried, for Nolan to tap in and complete her hat-trick.
In injury time Preston got a late consolation goal after a mix-up in the defence.
Captain Wendy Andrews picked up another player of the match award, having a great game in centre midfield but she was hard pushed by Nolan and Sweeney.
