THe final short list of five international potential developers for the prestigious Omega site at Burtonwood, Warrington, has been announced by English Partnerships.
Omega is one of the most important strategic development sites in Europe and will bring 12,000 new jobs to Warrington.
The developers have put forward detailed proposals.
A team at English Partnerships will make a joint recommendation with Warrington Borough Council and the North West Development Agency, to the English Partnerships Board in May.
The team's development manager Eliot Lewis Ward said talks would go on with the potential developers and funding organisations next month.
The detailed proposals came from : AMEC Developments/Morley Fund Management; Miller Development/Royal Bank of Scotland; Arlington Securities/Gazeley Properties; Hines Real Estate/Grosvenor Developments and Taylor Woodrow Property/Axa Reim UK.
The 558 acre site is of global importance and will need an investment of many millions. It is part of the former Burtonwood air base and will be linked to the M62 by the new £30m junction 8 which English Partnerships is funding.
Work starts on junction 8 in May and is scheduled to finish in May 2003. The contract includes additional work which will alleviate traffic problems in the area.
