A CRASH on the M6 caused traffic chaos in Warrington town centre on Thursday morning.
Two or three heavy goods vehicles and a car were involved in a collision on the Thelwall viaduct just before junction 21A at Croft at 7.30am.
Tailbacks from the accident stretched back six miles to the Lymm junction during the early morning rush hour, forcing drivers to cut through the town centre to escape jams.
Two out of the three lanes of the northbound carriageway were closed after a diesel spillage. No-one was injured in the collision but the drivers were shaken.
While emergency crews worked to clear the motorway, cars queued back to the Lymm interchange, and the three lanes were declared open just before 10am, but traffic congestion continued throughout the morning.
