SCHOOLCHILDREN at a Padgate primary school have been warned to change their routes to school after an incident involving an alleged flasher.
Parents of pupils at Oakwood Avenue Primary have been asked to avoid Steel Street after an incident was reported to police last Friday morning.
One parent told the Guardian that they believed a teenage girl had been 'flashed' at by a man.
In a note to parents, the headteacher said: "Although no-one has been threatened, I believe it would be best if children stay away from this area until I receive more information.
"I have asked all junior children who walk to and from school unaccompanied to use Oakwood Avenue."
Director of education Malcolm Roxburgh said: "This is now a matter for the police.
"The school did exactly the right thing in letting parents know."
A police spokesman confirmed that an incident was reported shortly after 9am on Friday and that the matter is being investigated.
