A SERIES of walks planned for April have been cancelled as a precaution following the foot-and-mouth crisis.
Ranger Service walks and a fundraising effort have had to be cancelled as a precaution because their routes involved crossing farmland.
The ranger service has cancelled a health walk on Sunday, April 1 and a Who's Who at the Zoo tour on Thursday, April 19 both at Walton Hall Gardens.
An Up and Out starting at the Ferry Inn car park in Penketh on April 22 has also been called off, as has a Spring Stroll on Sunday, April 22, which was due to start at the Millhouse pub car park in Cinnamon Brow.
The final Rangers' event to be cancelled is Beating The Bounds, on Sunday, April 29 at the Ranger Cabin in Woolston Park.
A fundraising walk in aid of Warrington's Duke of Edinburgh Awards team has also been cancelled because of foot-and-mouth fears.
Due to take place on April 8, the 21km walk would have started in Lymm and followed the Trans-Pennine Trail and the Bridgewater Canal.
Schools around the town were invited to take part, as were members of the public, in a bid to raise funds towards buying a mini-bus for the group.
