YOUNGSTERS in Warrington have been fighting their own corners in a new craze that is doing the rounds in the town.
Hook and Jab is taking Bridge Foot business centre by storm and the newly formed club in the town is the only club in Lancashire or Cheshire which is affiliated to the police.
Brett Mankee, an amateur cruiser weight and an officer with Cheshire police met up with youngsters at the club to show his support for the activities which aims to encourage young people to keep fit, teach them self defence and keep them off the street.
DCI Peter Rigby from the major crime unit at Cheshire police has pledged his support to the scheme, as has Sgt Dave Betts, community safety manager at Warrington.
Sgt Betts said: "We see this as a very positive thing for young people to be involved with and a diversion for negative activities.
"It teaches them to look after themselves and self discipline."
