BOSSES at East Cheshire NHS Trust are investigating concerns over the work of a surgeon.
The consultant surgeon works at Macclesfield Hospital, which serves Macclesfield and Congleton.
"Concerns were raised about some aspects of the surgeon's clinical work," said trust press officer James Middleton.
"The surgeon has been on a period of personal leave, by mutual agreement, while the investigation is being conducted by an independent expert from outside the region.
"The investigation is nearing completion, and we will make a further statement when we have received the report and considered any implications."
Parents or relatives who may have concerns or questions can ring a helpline number, 01625-661346, until 8pm today.
