WHAT a lot of wonderful mums there are in Warrington!

We were inundated with tales of how brave, self-sacrificing and dedicated the town's mums are and how much they are appreciated by their children. Here what's some of our contestantants wrote :

Hayley Triggle, Orford, Warrington, of her mother, Elizabeth Triggle : "She is the most important person to me in my whole life. I am very, very lucky to have a person as kind, gentle and loving as my mum."

Kimberley Taylor, Westbrook, of her mother, Vanessa Taylor : "My mum is one in a million because she always put up with my naughtiness. She buys me everything I want. She is wonderful and doesn't think of herself. She deserves a happy Mothers' Day."

Amy Lawton, Poole Avenue, Longford, of her mother, Diane Lawton "She has looked after me and my sister for years on her own. When something nice happens to us, she cries because she is so happy for us. Everybody who knows her thinks she is caring and kind."

Jill Ward, Lawn Avenue, Bruche, of her mother, Mary Cunningham, who has had a string of problems, including illness, but has provided a lot of help for her family : "She brought up five children single handedly. She was determined that we should all have a good life. Now, she is still active, swims, goes long walks and lives life to the full."

Jane Ballmann, St David's Drive, Callands, of her mum, Joan Ballmann : "She isn't just a mum. She's a grandmother, wife, aunty, friend, nurse, social worker, housewife, cleaner, cook, baby sitter, the list could go on and on. Who else would do all this? Only Mum."

Rachel Norman, Padgate Lane, Padgate, of her Mum, Mavis Norman : "We have just been through the toughest year ever. She's coped pretty well. She's the best mum ever and no one could replace her."
