On Princess Street workmen are gutting the former Timpsons shop in preparation for the state-of-the-art Stanley Racing due to open at the end of April.
Yesterday (Tuesday) current betting shop manager Ian Thomas said the final facade will be in place by April 20 followed by a celebrity opening a week later.
"I don't know whether there will be an equine or human celebrity," he said.
"But I just hope it is not Tom O'Connor - his jokes are worse than mine."
Timpsons has been closed for more than two years and it is believed legal matters - including acquiring a betting licence - have delayed the refurbishment.
Regional manager John Browne said the new shop would fit in with Knutsford.
"We have had to be tame which is fair considering the nature of the town," he said.
On Malt Street yesterday painters and decorators had also started work on the former Knutsford Motor Garage ready for the hot-tub and spa shop American Dream.
A spokesman for the company said they would be ready for a grand opening in April and also hoped there would be a celebrity there on the day.
But elsewhere in Knutsford the former shops of Vivis and Etceteras on King Street remained empty.
Better Bedrooms took the lease on Vivis at the start of the year and were expected to move in soon, but the company were unavailable for comment yesterday.
There has been interest in Etceteras, but no lease has been signed.
