A WINSFORD Scout group is planning to give a nursing home a garden to be proud of.
The youngsters from the 2nd Wharton Scout group have teamed up with Winsford-based consumer adhesives company Henkel in planning a garden makeover to be ready during the summer.
The plan is the latest stage of a Ground Force style project at The Laurels nursing home, Wharton, which the Scouts began last autumn.
Cub Scout leader Elaine Wareing said: "We have asked the residents for their ideas, because we want it to be a garden they can actively use and we want them to be able to get out in it and do something."
Elaine knew Henkel had been involved with the Scouts before and asked the company if it would like to help in any way.
The company was interested in environmental projects and thought the idea was perfect, granting over £3,000 towards it.
Volunteers from the workforce are now being recruited to muck in and get their hands dirty.
David Harrison, safety, health, environmental and quality manager, said: "We are going to get employees involved and we will be putting our wellies on and getting stuck in very soon."
New Scouts are always welcome, with the prospect of getting involved with exciting projects like this.
Cubs, for ages 8 to 10-and-a-half, meets at the Scout hut in Greville Drive from 6.30pm until 8pm on Wednesdays.
Scouts meet between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at the same place on Fridays.
