A WINSFORD teenager saved his family from disaster on Mother's Day when his quick-thinking prevented a fire spreading further than the kitchen.
Adam Archbold, 15, had been cooking his mum, Catherine, a mixed grill breakfast as a treat on her special day, while the rest of the family had a lie in.
But as he was starting to make some toast the grill pan caught fire.
Adam's dad Ian said: "The cooker was then engulfed in flames, so he called everybody upstairs to get out."
"I came down and put a fire blanket on it while he called the fire brigade and everybody got outside, so he did really well."
Winsford Fire Brigade arrived at the scene at Walmer Place, but the family pet, a miniature Schnauzer dog named Lucy, was still trapped in the dining room.
Thankfully Lucy was rescued and the Archbold's kitchen escaped with superficial damage, although the cooker was ruined.
Sub officer Chris Mannix, from the brigade, said: "His actions were commendable and his family have him to thank for their safety."
