Sale Town...2
FOR a brief period in the second-half Knutsford hit top form and turned the game in their favour, but were denied victory in the dying stages.
Knutsford felt the volatile Sale Town team did not deserve their equaliser, but their determination paid off with five minutes remaining.
Knutsford enjoyed much of the possession in the first-half and were unlucky not to find a breakthrough.
A 25 yard pile-driver from Paul Ashley rattled the crossbar in the 12th minute with Evans and Morphet also going close.
Gary Long dominated the mid-field in the first-half, but Sale took the lead when a long ball out of defence caught Knutsford out as their pacey striker found the far corner of the net.
In the second-half Joey Morphet turned the home team inside out with some mesmerising play.
He created a number of chances before Darren Beattie drilled home the equaliser at the far post.
Stimpson moved up alongside Evans and his strong running caused further problems for the home defence.
Morphet had one more trick up his sleeve to provide Evans with what seemed like Knutsford's winning goal.
Unfortunately Sale struck their equaliser with little time to spare.
Knutsford goalkeeper Jamie Mottershead had another fine game despite the effects of a recent rib injury.
On Saturday the A team are away to Broadheath Central, kick off 2pm.
TEAM: J Mottershead, A Jackson, A Long, N Thorp, A Potts, M Stimpson, G Long, P Ashley, D Beattie, J Evans, J Morphet. Substitute: S Thornley (not used)
