TRITON Hockey Club mens 1st X1 escaped relegation on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 win and a victory for Crewe.
Triton beat Oxton at home, while Crewe beat Colwyn Bay to send the Welshmen down to Division 2.
Triton took the lead on 20 minutes when Mark Bastock raced onto a Simon Trenbirth through ball to fire an unstoppable shot past the keeper.
Triton keeper Graham Morrison made two vital second half saves to keep his side ahead.
He made the game safe with a penalty flick eight minutes from time after Nick Chucksley had been brought down in the penalty area.
Triton 2nds will be playing Division 6 hockey next season after finishing as runners-up, thanks to a 1-0 victory at Northern.
Simon Cruxton hit the only goal of the game in the first half.
Triton 3rds lost 3-1 at home to Crewe Vagrants, Kate Riley their scorer.
Kathy Rapley and Julie Crump scored in Triton Ladies 2-1 win at home to Cannock, and should gain promotion if they beat Lichfield tomorrow
