ALSAGER failed to hit the back of the net for the third game in a row on Saturday as they went out of the cup.
Manager Greg Clowes promoted young striker Leon Morris to the starting line-up after being impressed with his recent displays.
However Alsager created few chances in their quarter final League Cup clash at Daisyhill, going down by the only goal of the game.
The first half featured some neat football from both sides, but was littered with niggly fouls and boasted just three clearcut openings.
A free kick from Crompton for Daisyhill on six minutes deceived Rob Powner in the Alsager goal, and Chris Dick was forced to clear off the line.
The ball fell to Rob Drummond for Alsager, who raced to the edge of the Daisyhill box.
He played the ball to John Chapman, who hit his shot over the bar with only the keeper to beat.
Daisyhill went close a minute before the break when Powner pulled off an excellent save from a Cain shot from 20 yards.
Alsager started the second half well, but failed to create any chances, and paid the penalty on the hour.
Cain put his side ahead with a shot from 15 yards which gave Powner no chance.
*Alsager travel to Ashton Town tomorrow.
