KNYPERSLEY Vics held West Midlands Police at bay on Saturday to earn a 2-1 home victory.
The Police pulled a goal back on 66 minutes to set up an exciting finish to the league match, and piled forward in search of an equaliser.
They threw everything at the Vics in the last few minutes, but Knypersley's back four held their nerve to see their side through.
Knypersley almost took a first minute lead, but Carnell in the Police goal pulled off a fine save from James' free kick.
Redgate fired over on 12 minutes, and came close three minutes later when Carnell dived to keep out his shot.
Carnell produced another excellent save on 18 minutes to deny Palin, and Knypersley took the lead in the 26th minute.
James crossed for Redgate, whose shot was blocked, but the ball ran to Atkinson, who rifled it home.
Stanway made a crucial interception to keep his side ahead when he blocked a goalbound effort from Wharmby.
Knypersley made it 2-0 four minutes into the second half when Atkinson beat the offside trap to drive the ball in from 30 yards out.
Carnell denied Atkinson his hat-trick with yet another save on 64 minutes, and the visitors pulled a goal back two minutes later.
The Vics' defence failed to clear their lines, and Wharmby pounced to beat Knypersley keeper Dalloway.
Redgate and James both missed chances to make the game safe for Knypersley.
* Knypersley travel to Boldmere St Michaels tomorrow, and are at home to Rushall Olympic next Tuesday.
