ENTERTAINMENT news and the foot-and-mouth crisis made front page news of the Cardinal Newman Chronicle last week as part of the Guardian's Newspapers in Education scheme.
The team of 30 students enjoyed the challenge of putting the stories together and ensured that they had the news as it broke by using the Internet as a learning resource.
Katherine Larder, English teacher at Cardinal Newman High, said: "The scheme has been very, very successful and has inspired the pupils to produce stories for their own newsletter every term.
"We received some very good feedback from the students and they were pleased with the end result of all their hard work."
The school's young newshounds visited Internet websites to come up with their own angle on top stories, covering Popstars band Hear'Say's chart-topping success and current affairs issues.
