BUDDING young scientists have been experimenting with everything from brains to radios as part of National Science Week.
The pupils at Locking Stumps Primary School looked at the wonders of splitting light with prisms and plant life, as well as being challenged to build a radio transmitter for use from a desert island out of 30 pieces of newspaper and a metre of Sellotape!
Youngsters at St Helen's CE Primary School, Hollinfare, studied the senses with specialists from the University of Manchester. The functions of the brain, nerves and muscles were explored in special workshops.
Students at Birchwood High School visited Manchester Science Museum, as well as competing against Padgate High School in an egg 'race' where feats of engineering were used to move the object.
They also visited Warrington Amateur Radio Club and came third regionally in an Internet quiz with a science theme.
