COUCH potato kids who don't get enough exercise and snack on crisps and chocolates are among primary school children throughout Warrington who are being given a healthy livestyle message with the help of the Wolves.
The town's Rugby League development officer, Neil Kelly, leads the Warrington Wolves Community Development team which provides talks and videos in schools. Often players go along to deliver the message and the club's mascot, Wolfie, lends his support too.
Neil's four point plan for a better lifestyle for school kids is based on diet, exercise, hygiene and sleep.
"We use players as role models" said Neil. "So far, we have visited 20 schools and we will continue until we have visted them all."
Neil has had a video made with the help of Warrington Collegiate Institute, in which players help to deliver the message."We talk to children and ask them what they eat. In the school breaks it's often crisps, chocolate and bubble gum. Diet and exercise are so important. Children don't get enough exercise. They are spending time playing computer games. Just walking to school would help but parents are often concerned about safety."
The team is encouraging more exercise to be taken at school and also promoting cycling to school.
