HEROIC bobby Sergeant Tony Symonds, praised in the Guardian for stopping a man from jumping off the Cantilever bridge has paid tribute to two unsung heroes who came to his aid.
An off-duty fireman from Stockton Heath fire station and a passer-by helped Sgt Symonds restrain the man after he pulled him to safety, allowing the officer to call for back up.
Sgt Symonds thanked the pair for stepping in to help. "It would have been a struggle for me to keep hold of him if they hadn't come along," he said.
The incident happened on Saturday March 11, and the man was taken to Warrington police station for counselling.
