THE Official Warrington Wolves Supporters' Club would like to respond to comments made by Mr M Darbyshire in the Guardian.
While the efforts of Mr Darbyshire to gather signatures in support of the new stadium must be commended, his accusation that others have not been equally pro-active is disappointing.
He will remember that he attended an open meeting of the Supporters' Club at the Wheatsheaf on February 8. This event had been arranged by the Supporters' Club in collaboration with the parent club and had been advertised in the Guardian. At this meeting, Mr Neil Dowson and Mr Adam Jude praised the efforts of all participants to date and outlined what further action was required. Mr Lee Bradbury of the Supporters' Club then allocated areas to persons to knock on doors to gather signatures. Petition forms and passes were given out and it was also stressed that businesses and organisations should be approached and asked to take on board petitions or write letters of support to Marcia Dean.
Mr Darbyshire should be mindful that at this time the parent club is promoting unity and partnership between all interested parties, including official and unofficial supporters' clubs and the fanzine and websites. Comments such as his distract from the great efforts that are being made by organisations and individuals to preserve the future of our great club. All efforts must be directed towards this most important matter and should not be undermined by individuals attempting to score points against other supporters.
The Supporters' Club would, therefore, like to thank ALL Warrington supporters whose hard work and dedication must surely be rewarded with a successful outcome to the public inquiry.
MR J PRIOR
Chairman Warrington Wolves
Official Supporters' Club
