WARRINGTON'S arch-rivals scored 14 goals between them as they continued their persuit for glory in North West Counties Division Two.
Second-placed Warrington Town achieved their highest victory for 28 years with their 9-1 romp at bottom club Oldham Town on Friday.
Tetley Walker, hot on Town's heels in third place, were also impressive in their 5-2 win at Castleton Gabriels on Saturday.
The last time Warrington netted more than nine goals in a match was in 1973 when they defeated Winsford Sports Club 10-1 away in a Mid-Cheshire League Cup tie.
After failing to find the target in the opening 20 minutes at the Whitebank Stadium, Oldham, Town then scored six times during a remarkable attacking spell before half-time.
Warrington's top scorer Mike Heverin, with the first of his double strike, opened the floodgates with a blistering 30-yard drive.
Also on the mark for Warrington were Neil Holden and Brendan Hennessey, with two goals apiece, together with efforts by Robbie Preidt, Gareth Chadwick and Dave Pick.
A beleaguered Oldham replied with a penalty by Lee Matthews.
Warrington, who have lost only three times in the league since the opening week of September, visit Atherton LR on Saturday.
Town's remaining league fixtures are: April 7, Nelson (a): April 10, Bootle (a); April 14, Holker (a); April 16, Tetley Walker (a); April 21, Castleton Gabriels (h); April 26, Daisy Hill (a); May 1, Padiham (a), May 5, Blackpool Mechanics (a).
Tetley dominated the first half of their game, going close to scoring on numerous occasions before breaking the deadlock in the 44th minute.
Top scorer Neal Smith cut inside two defenders before hitting a hard, low shot into the corner of the net for his first of a hat-trick.
Smith doubled Tetley's advantage four minutes into the second half when he met a Barry Edwardson cross with a diving header.
Ten minutes later a flowing passing movement ended with Smith playing the ball into the path of Gary Bickerstaffe, who scooped the ball over the diving Castleton goalkeeper and he added a second 10 minutes later.
Substitute goalkeeper Paul Williams was beaten by Richard Brown from the penalty spot after Steve Walmsley was adjudged to have pulled Sean Cryer down in the area.
Tetley were awarded a penalty of their own in the 83rd minute when Cryer was caught handling the ball in the area. Smith took his tally to 15 goals from 12 games as he completed his fourth hat-trick in less than two months.
In the 90th minute Baxendale scored a consolation goal for the home side.
On Saturday third-placed Tetley travel to league leaders Nelson, kick-off 3pm.
