SUNDAY will be a test of nerve for double Thai boxing world champion Warren Brown.
Following defeat in his last fight against Keiron Keddle he has a lot to prove, plus there is the added pressure of having to defend his WKO belt.
But Brown thinks that knowing nothing about his Belgian opponent Basha Valon could work in his favour.
Brown felt his downfall in the defeat against Keddle was largely due to the fact that he underestimated his opponent. Because Brown knows nothing about the Belgian he will have to treat him as a serious threat.
Another aspect that Brown feels more confident about than in the preparation for his last fight is his weight. He is already below the maximum fighting weight permitted and the weigh-in is a day before the bout.
This means he can stop watching his weight in the days prior to the fight and that is one thing off his mind which was a problem last time round.
Although Brown is trying hard to focus on the task at hand he is fnding it difficult not to think of the all-Warrington clash three weeks later against arch-rival Mark Matthews.
Brown said: "Because the belts are owned by two different organisations I have ended up fighting two title defences extremely close together.
"I am concerned that I wil not have enough time to recover which is why I would like a quick finish to the fight on Sunday.
"I would prefer not to have a long drawn out fight so I will be trying to knock him out."
The Warrington Wolves physio Paul Doherty has offered to help Brown recover and will treat him in the days immediately proceeding Sunday's fight.
Pele Nathan's club also have three other boxers on the card on Sunday - Kevin Harper, Frankie Hudders and a novice fighter.
The fight is being held in the Price of Wales Hotel in Southport.
Brown said: "It's a great venue because it's small and compact it creates a fantastic atmosphere.
"Plus the viewing arrangements have been improved since last time I fought there."
A Warrington Borough Transport bus is running to take supporters. It leaves from Postern Gate at 5.30pm. Anyone interested in going to support Warren can contact him on 07977049379.
