ALAN Hunte is favourite to be handed the full back jersey as Warrington Wolves go in search of their first Challenge Cup semi-final win for 11 years on Sunday.

Dean Busby and Steve McCurrie are expected to be fit with Busby going straight into the back row alongside Steve Georgallis after missing the Super League debacle against Salford on Sunday. McCurrie, after recovering from flu, will probably be a substitute.

The Allan Langer and Lee Briers half back partnership is set to be reunited for the first time this year and provide a timely boost for the club sat at the foot of the Super League table as they prepare to meet the competition leaders.

Hunte's switch comes about from Lee Penny breaking his thumb against Salford and a specialist has confirmed this week that the Wigan-based player will be sidelined for six weeks - and could miss the final if the Wolves win through!

Moving Hunte leaves a gap on the wing with David Kidwell and Jamie Stenhouse battling for the spot.

All the hints point to Briers' play-making skills being called on at stand off, after his first appearance there this year against Salford.

Coach Darryl Van de Velde has said he will not be playing Tawera Nikau at stand off, as he did last year when the Wolves defeated Bradford in the league at Wilderspool.

Scrum half Langer has already had two different half back partners this year in Kevin Walters and Steve Georgallis but he is not perturbed by the lack of stability.

The 34-year-old said: "I played with Briers throughout last season so I think we'll fit back together quite easily."

Wolves' mammoth task takes place on Sunday at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium, kick-off is at 3.30pm.
